Wings Theatre Academy provides its students a holistic, caring environment which empowers the students to actively participate and be well trained under the keen eyes of Zubin Mehta. Wings Theatre Academy sends out the best, most talented and well-prepared students who are more poised and better groomed to face the world. Both my children have been trained by Zubin sir and it has been a pleasure and a great learning experience over a number of years.

My daughters Arni and Vari were a part of Wings in their formative years. Through their experience I had a little glimpse into the magical world of theatre and the profound effect it had on children.Theatre gives an opportunity to children, to live as someone else and to get sensitised by the mental/emotional dilemmas and complexities of the character they play and the ones they interact with.
Not only do they derive a sense of responsibility and co-existence by the little acts that they present, it also fills them up with empathy and respect for others. The best part is that the kids come out of the classes happy and full of energy.

Working with Zubin Sir has been an absolute privilege, one that has filled my life with perhaps a little more cheer, sensitivity, kindness and gratitude than would have been the case in the absence of this warm acquaintance.
From learning theatrical choreography, to Stanislavski-style method acting in school (lessons that have stayed with me till date), to being part of a memorable experiment to set up a theatre group in the city and assisting him direct a play many years later, I have a multitude of memories that are associated with Zubin Sir and theatre, and all of them are exceptionally warm and joyful. (In fact, for me, “theatre” is something that I almost always associate with him). It’s strange that I still call Zubin Sir “Sir”even though we are only a handful years apart in age, an enduring legacy of the time I first worked with him – when I was still in school (2006). Fourteen years down the line, I consider him a friend, but also still a teacher and mentor – someone I could turn to for his wise counsel and an honest conversation about anything, with the trust that he always means well.

Both my sons have been closely associated with the Wings Theatre Academy for more than five years. As a mother, I have witnessed their personality and confidence improve over time. Theatre has constructively channelised their energies. It has not only helped them become enthusiastic about acting, but has also improved their abilities to interact and perform with a team.
I have had the privilege of viewing almost all plays performed by the students of the Wings Theatre Academy and they continue to amaze me every time. Zubin sir is an extremely talented individual and director. He is enthusiastic about his work and brings the best out of each child. I would like to thank Zubin sir and the entire team of the Wings Theatre Academy for giving my children the opportunities to shed their inhibitions and offering them wings to truly express themselves!

Acting onstage teaches one how to be comfortable speaking in front of large audiences. My daughter Meher has gained immense confidence that helps her to speak clearly, lucidly, and thoughtfully.
She has learned to take pride in doing things at her very best level. Being involved in theatre productions and classes demands commitment and motivation which is very evident from the way she performs all her day-to-day activities. I’m very thankful to the entire Wings Academy for giving my daughter the opportunity to be a part of their productions and learning valuable lessons which will remain with her for life.
I wish them all the best for their future endeavours.

“Attending Zubin Sir’s academy made a massive impact on my high school years. Besides pushing me out of my shell and teaching me how to take healthy risks, I learned how to appreciate one of the greatest forms of art.
Zubin Sir is not just an incredible teacher, but an extraordinary director. He has a nose for significant and meaningful plays. He’s practical but intensely creative, drawing out profound particularities in the great plays.
I didn’t just learn how to enjoy the process, but how to be proud of the ending. The plays were Always well received, reviewed, and magnificent. I made lifelong friendships, developed a lasting trust and confidence in myself, discovered a deep affection for theatre, and curated dear memories.
Zubin Sir is driven and talented, but one of the greatest gifts he offers his students, is trust that they too have something important to offer, to give, to grow.”

When I first joined Wings, I was scared to open up with people whom I had never met before. But all the theatre games and exercises that we did in groups, helped me becoming comfortable. My first play was Oliver Twist in which I played ‘Artful Dodger’ and then played the story teller in ‘Children of Heaven’, followed by ‘Bittoo’ in The Blue Umbrella. The best thing about Wings is that all the teachers are very loving and during the plays our parents and the teachers work together like a family.

I have known Zubin Sir for more than 17 years now. He started teaching me in class 6 and has been continuing to do so till date, may it be theatre or life. Zubin sir was the one who put me on a stage at a very young age because of which I’ve never had any stage fear in life.
He has directed me in several productions over this time which includes gems such as ‘Toba Tek Singh’, The night of January 16, ‘Twelve angry Jurors’ to name a few.
Being a part of the school dramatics team helped me develop an overall confident and dynamic personality, traits which books can never teach. I’d like to thank Zubin sir for helping me shape my life for the better.

Wings Academy is a beautiful place for kids to learn theatre. Kids are taught the basics of drama and I have personally interacted with my daughter Moesha over speech and Drama exercises, which are very impressive. My daughter has also explored the art of filmmaking during online classes with Wings. Overall, as a parent, it’s a satisfying journey so far to see my child learning & growing in the art she loves. All the Best, Wings Theatre Academy

zubin sir is a wonderful teacher. In just a few months, not only has my acting improved miraculously but my speech has become clearer. I am now more open about conversing with people I do not know very well….this class taught me to step out of my comfort zone. This is one of those very rare times where I myself am eager to attend the class and am not just doing it because my
parents told me to. I love this class. With every class I attended, I became a little more daring, a little less cautious and a much better orator. If it had not been for sir, I might have still been the child who was too shy to speak in public. Thank you so much.

If there’s one thing I’ve been sure about for the longest part of my life, it would be that I wanted to act. Wings Theatre Academy was the first theatre Academy for children in Chandigarh. And of that Academy, I, as Zubin sir, would fondly remind me, was its first student! From there on began a relationship with theatre, acting and, Sir that evolved as I grew — in its entirety and me as a person. I truly think Sir has taught me about theatre and life more than any academic book. “To create more lives (more characters) leave the ones we’ve closed, behind.”
I’ve learned so much from him, about the stage, grammar of theatre, music, myself, my confidence, control, and release, people, human relationships, letting go, mental health — the list is endless, but I’d have to end with — about FOOD!
Zubin Sir was right from the get-go motivated, equally motivating! “Would you ever think of doing cinema?” he had once asked, and I firmly rejected the idea. “I’m a theatre artist — not any another film actor,” was my thought. Cut to 8 years later, I’m in the movies, right at the centre of Bollywood, taking feedback, tips, and advice from my first director every step of the way!

I joined Wings after my elder sister spent a couple of years there.Being at Wings has been an enriching experience. Zubin Sir is more like a wise friend, instead of a teacher, who helps guide you towards being a better version of yourself. Not only does he teach acting in a style that is Interesting, he also goes into the depth of the art. He also extends the lessons a bit to cinema and teaches about camera angles, screenplays, dialogue delivery, etc. You get the best of everything!

It’s been an association spanning 7years where I have seen my twin daughters bloom, evolve & enjoy learning the nuances of acting as well as some critical life skills.
With carefully curated theatre games, regular improvisations and immensely professional annual productions, my girls experienced a whole new world of imagination, creativity, hard work, finesse… everything woven together with so much fun & affection that they would often want to have a theatre class daily!!
And the impact has been so satisfying and evident… they communicate & express their emotions freely, focus on looking for a solution, enjoy being in front of an audience, their answers in the school notebooks have vivid descriptions & their conversations are rich with imagination!!
Everything you teach & do is out of your passion for the medium… this mantra is the most impactful of all your teachings, Zubin Sir!!
And let me mention here, the 3 keys you gave them on Day 1, years back, have stayed with them ever since….
Keep spreading smiles & doing the great work… our City Beautiful is lucky to have you!!

I’ve had a love and interest in Theatre for as far back as I can remember but I never really learned how to feel and enjoy it. That is until I met Zubin sir 10 years ago, who opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. I was unaware of my potential but he saw it clear and knew exactly how to push me to realise it.
Zubin sir’s methods are almost transcending, he helps his actors open up their layers in a way that feels meditative. We’ve worked on some memorable and well-received performances and he continues to be the director/mentor who taught me to tap into the very essence of my talent and, most importantly, to enjoy the process.

I attended classes at the Wings Theatre Academy for 3 years and participated in the plays Robin Hood and the Children of Heaven. Learning from Zubin Sir was a great experience indeed and I acquired and honed quite a few skills in the process.
Zubin Sir always stressed upon stepping into the shoes of the character and imagining yourself in that situation, instead of just superficially imitating it, which is what in my opinion, makes his plays stand out. But what I genuinely enjoyed the most was that I got to interact with a bunch of people who were were strangers to begin with but ended up becoming really good friends. On the whole, the entire journey was absolutely wonderful and memorable and I feel that everyone should try it out because it’s surprising how theatre classes help you evolve into a better version of yourself over time.

Wings Theatre Academy has helped me overcome stage fright.
I was very keen to act and my mother found Wings Academy for me. Zubin sir and the other teachers helped me to get better with acting skills and become more creative too. I like theatre games and exercises, they add a lot of excitement and happiness to my day.

After performing in my first school play, I knew, Acting was my calling, but I didn’t know how to go about things.
The answer came in the form of Zubin sir and his Wings Theatre Academy. And honestly, I couldn’t have possibly asked for anything better.
What Zubin sir has inculcated in me and my craft as a teacher, as a guide and as a mentor, is priceless to me. His teaching methods and techniques, which he has developed through years of experience, have helped me hone my acting faculties to such a degree, wherein now I have absolutely no fear of performing on stage or in front of a camera. I am able to perform with comfort and ease, because I fully trust the foundations and fundamentals of acting that I stand on. And such strong foundations could only be created under sir’s guidance.
I have said this many times before, and I will say it again – I will always be grateful to Zubin Sir and Wings Theatre Academy for what they have contributed in my life.

“My first play with Zubin Sir was ‘Lamb to the Slaughter’. I played the protagonist ‘Mary Maloney’.
In the initial days, I was a little stiff on stage and often made involuntary nervous movements. With Zubin Sir’s exercises and process of gently getting the actors in the flow, I was able to freely move on stage. I felt far more comfortable and relaxed with my body and was able to do justice to the part he had asked me to play. He’s super fun to work with. His love for his work drives all the people working with him to their full potential.
Everyday at rehearsal that month left me feeling satisfied by the end of the day but yet driven to do more. That feeling’s got me a long way today and yet there is always so much more to explore.”

I’ve been learning theatre at Wings with Zubin Sir and other teachers for three years now. Spending time in this magical space has polished me as an artist and human both.Understanding and enacting characters helped me break my own emotional barriers and taught me Assertiveness – a valuable life tool. Zubin Sir’s passion for his craft is contagious -Online or in person. My theatre classes make me happy !!

Working with Zubin sir has always been an amazing experience! It has made me more confident and has taught me how to feel the emotions of the song and the character. He has a certain magical way to make us let go of all our inhibitions and let our true inner self come out and that truly reflects in the performance. Thank you sir for making us better individuals!

“Memories and lessons from Zubin Sir’s classes are still as fresh as yesterday. The thrill of laying bare one’s soul and emotions was unparalleled. His classes were also cathartic at a certain level. More than just theatre, it was like a crash course in finding oneself and discovering hitherto unexplored dimensions of one’s personality, during improvisation and other aspects of the workshop. It was not just body and voice at play on stage, but the heart and mind indeed! Thank you for such a first rate experience”

I was quiet and a wee bit shy. I spoke softly. I did not initiate discussions or really participate in them. But that was some time ago! Before I played the role of Oliver Twist. One of the best things that Wings Theatre Academy gave me, was confidence.
Theatre wasn’t simply a platform to act on stage, at Wings. It was a medium to encourage exchanges and interactions. It challenged my creativity, honed my confidence and made me believe in my abilities. Zubin sir, our director, motivated us and made it seem possible especially with the exciting everyday activities. It was indeed a whole new world, of which I have fond memories.

“Having had no previous experience in acting, Zubin Sir instilled the confidence in me that all I needed was the will to act and he’d take care of the rest. All thanks to him, It’s been 8 years that I have been regularly performing. I feel at home on stage and feel incomplete if I do not Act for a while. Wings Theatre academy is home and has given me some of the most beautiful moments and memories that I’m forever going to cherish and I look forward to making many more”
